KRAIBON® helps to set record at Nürburgring North Loop

Our high-tech material KRAIBON® helped Porsche to set a record last year at the Nürburgring race track. In the Porsche 919 lmp evo, the elastomer enabled variable aerodynamic control, which constributed to this record time. This control of aerodynamics requires moving areas in the CFRP material used, which was made possible by KRAIBON®.
Optimal supplement to fibre composite materials
The fact that KRAIBON® achieves excellent adhesion both to metals and to fibre composite materials made the material ideal for use in the vehicle. The use of KRAIBON® in the front splitter made it possible to bond CFRP with titanium inserts.
Ideal combination of economy and safety
Also another advantage of KRAIBON® is evident when used for protection against impact and splintering. In the case of a collision, normal fibre reinforced plastic components break and burst into many small splinters. This can result in an increased risk of injury to passengers or pedestrians. By integrating KRAIBON® substantially improves safety while prolonging the life of the components, since the outstanding adhesion to the fibre composite prevents the detachment of splintered fragments.
The use of KRAIBON® – for acoustics, impact and hybrid – in motor sports is only one area of application for the elastomer. Due to its special properties, it can be used to good advantage in other areas as well: automotive construction, wind energy, aeronautics, rail vehicles, medical technology and other industrial lightweight applications.
