Gummiwerk KRAIBURG R&D department under new management

Dr. Frieder Vielsack is the new Head of Research and Development at Gummiwerk KRAIBURG GmbH & Co. KG. In his new position, he is responsible for managing the department, focusing particularly on improving the strength of Gummiwerk KRAIBURG when it comes to developing customer-specific material solutions and innovative products for new areas of application.

Professional background

Before joining the TPE business division of Gummiwerk KRAIBURG – which later became KRAIBURG TPE GmbH & Co. KG – in 1999, Vielsack studied chemistry at the University of Karlsruhe, completing his doctoral studies there in 1998. Over the course of his career at KRAIBURG TPE, the qualified chemist occupied several roles in sales and development.

Firstly, Vielsack assumed responsibility as a developer, key account manager and team leader for international customers before becoming responsible for building up the KRAIBURG TPE portfolio as a product manager on a global level.

In 2008, he took on the management of the “Consumer & Medical” sales team to prepare the business for entry into the challenging medical market. Two years later, Vielsack returned to his development area and, in recent years, took on responsibility for numerous developments and innovations relating to thermoplastic elastomers.

Most recently, as Head of Advance Development, he developed production technology to shift the performance of thermoplastic elastomers towards that of rubber materials. This is how
the so-called thermoplastic elastomer hybrids (TEH) came about. These combine the excellent properties of rubber with the advantages of thermoplastic elastomers.

“My fascination for elastomers has grown even stronger in recent years because of my research and
development work. This is why I am delighted to be able to use my passion in my new role as head of
department at Gummiwerk KRAIBURG”, the doctorate chemist explains his new task.
